Description
Pace Academy seeks a dynamic and visionary Physical Education Teacher/Head Boys Lacrosse Coach. Candidates should also show a passion for physical activity, sport and healthy living, and must motivate, inspire and educate students to believe in the benefits of these practices by providing opportunities for healthy competition, positive social interactions and joyful experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a plan for the entire boys lacrosse program (varsity, junior varsity and Middle School), including short- and long-term goals for success on and off the field.
- Build and sustain a competitive varsity team that reflects the school’s tradition of excellence and contributes to its legacy of producing well-rounded student-athletes.
- Recruit, mentor and retain a skilled coaching staff dedicated to advancing the program's and the school's goals.
- Foster the academic, athletic and personal growth of student-athletes, ensuring that they embody the qualities of leadership, discipline and integrity while instilling a love for the game.
- Oversee all day-to-day facets, including (but not limited to) scheduling, statistics, equipment issue and ordering.
- Collaborate with the Director of Athletics on hiring, retention, evaluation and professional development of boys lacrosse coaching staff.
- Schedule and organize practice sessions for Upper School boys lacrosse teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with major or minor in Physical Education and/or experience in Physical Education.
- Advanced degrees are welcomed, encouraged and often very helpful.
- Committed experience to teaching and coaching.
- Ability to lead Upper School boys lacrosse (Grades 9-12).
- Support the Middle School lacrosse program (Grades 6-8).
- Offer skill sessions/on-campus lacrosse opportunities for Lower School students (Grades 1-5).
