The Physical Education teacher fulfills the mission of both St. Dominic Savio Catholic School and Holy Family Catholic School by planning, guiding, and evaluating the learning process of the students within the framework of the school's philosophy, organization, and curriculum. The Teacher provides the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities designed to maximize student competencies and skills for intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth. The position is hired and evaluated by the principal.
Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.
Plan for instruction with logically sequenced objectives based on adopted curriculum and submit plans according to the school policies.
Provide appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning.
Use varied assessment tools to perform both formative and summative assessments.
Practice positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom.
Communicate with parents regarding academic, behavioral, and safety concerns.
Uses effective and current Physical Education instructional methods/models practice.
Maintains appropriate confidential records (grade book, attendance, etc.).
Instructs students from elementary, middle school and high school according to Physical Education Department curriculum and standards.
Certifications and Training:
Must meet the minimum requirements for teaching field as set forth by the Diocese and TCCED.
Must meet staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese and school.
Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
