Physical Therapist

Education/Certification:

• Hold appropriate valid Illinois State Licensure.
• Hold appropriate degree from a recognized college or university.
• Certification to practice in Illinois as evidenced by current licensure as a physical therapist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with all professional, ethical, and legal standards in alignment with licensure and best practices.
• Lead and manage the district’s physical therapy program, including its vision, procedures, and annual goals.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations using standardized tools, observations, and relevant educational and medical records.
• Interpret assessment results and communicate findings clearly and compassionately to parents, educators, and team members.
• Collaborate with IEP and 504 teams to develop individualized support plans that address students’ physical needs.
• Design and implement evidence-based physical therapy interventions to improve mobility, access, and participation in school activities.
• Develop individualized physical management plans and train staff on safe and effective implementation.
• Support transitions from school to community settings by promoting student independence and adjusting services accordingly.
• Monitor student progress regularly and adjust therapy plans as needed to meet changing needs.
• Maintain open communication with school teams, families, and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
