Description
The Physical Therapist will assist in the coordination and operation of the districts program of PT services, and to train and supervise other personnel in the utilization and participation in such service so that all students enrolled in the program may be brought as fully as possible to the level of functioning of which they are capable.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification/License as required by the State of Vermont.
- Training and experience in provision of school-based PT services.
- Experience in therapy of children with Intensive Needs.
- Familiarity with inclusive education strategies.
- Proficiency in participation in the special education case management and in the process and in coordinating with interdisciplinary support teams.
- Qualified to conduct appropriate screenings and assessments.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists parents, Special Education Case Managers, Early Childhood Education Specialist, community services personnel and where appropriate, classroom teachers and instructional support teams in early identification, assessment and intervention planning for students likely to benefit from physical therapy services.
- Provides training, consultation and assistance to program personnel and parents and where appropriate to special education teachers, classroom teachers, guidance personnel, principals and other school staff as necessary and appropriate to help assure comprehensiveness consistency and effectiveness of PT services.
- Coordinates with Special Education Case Managers to provide PT components of comprehensive evaluations.
- Coordinates with parents and other members of instructional support teams to develop individualized education programs for each student who is to receive PT services.
- Plans, designs, implements and supervises daily PT for each student whose individualized education plan calls for PT services.
