Description
This position is responsible for treatment of patients and communication with staff, patients, patient families and physicians. This includes providing direct patient care, demonstrating fiscal awareness, assisting with maintenance and operation of the department.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Strong communication skills with staff, physicians and patients.
- Experience with outpatient orthopedic Physical Therapy.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize work flow in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review physician referral and medical records to confirm that patient is an appropriate candidate for physical therapy.
- Evaluate and assess patient’s condition, performing appropriate tests to determine PT treatment required.
- Plan and prepare treatment program in a timely manner based on evaluation findings.
- Administer and modify treatment program as indicated.
- Orient, instruct and direct the work of PT Assistants, Athletic Trainers and PT Aides in the administration of above treatment program.
- Confer with physicians and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in plan of care and integrate PT with other aspects of the patient’s health care.
- Regularly demonstrates creativity, skill and efficiency in designing and implementing the physical therapy treatment programs for patients of all types of disabilities and medical problems.
- Independently utilizes complex equipment.
