Description
Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking a Physical Therapist to work with our Special Education student population who may need skilled therapy services in order to experience educational success. Areas of emphasis include gross motor skills, functional mobility, posture and position and adaptive equipment and furniture. Physical Therapists are responsible for the assessment, planning, goal development and appropriate intervention services that facilitate independence amongst our students with disabilities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides Physical Therapy Services as identified through a student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or their 504 plan.
- Administers physical assessments to determine a student’s level of functioning relative to their age and educational placement in such areas as gross motor skill development, functional mobility, postural control, positioning, and needed adaptive equipment.
- Develops Physical Therapy treatment plans and goals to improve student’s functional abilities and enhance their ability to learn.
- Provides students with individual or group therapy sessions to correct specific areas of motor dysfunction.
- Consults and communicates with parents, school staff and outside providers regarding student’s school based skills.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university.
- Active (valid, not expired) licensure to practice Physical Therapy issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Prior experience serving as an Physical Therapist, ideally within a public school institution.
