Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Improve, develop or restore functions impaired or lost through illness, injury or deprivation.
- Improve ability to perform tasks for independent functioning if functions are impaired or lost: and
- Prevent, through early intervention, initial and further impairment or loss of function.
- Improve or maintain strength and/or range of motion and encourage motor and reflex development.
- Functions as a consultant with the child’s parent and school personnel
- Instructs parents and teachers in the use of techniques and equipment
- Recommends adaptive equipment to aid students in performing ambulation physical exercise, communication skills, wheelchair activities, and proper positioning.
- Keep records as regulated by State and Federal Agencies at to frequencies and modalities used.
- May provide intervention strategies for students no on an IEP, but as part of MTSS.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Appropriate Physical Therapy Degree.
- Physical Therapist, registered by the Ohio Board of O.T.’s, P.T.’s and Athletic Trainers.
- Eligible for a certificate/license issued by the State of Ohio to practice Physical Therapy in the public schools.
- Membership in a professional association related to Physical Therapy, preferred.
- Alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate.
