Physical Therapist, Inpatient

As a Physical Therapist, you will be responsible to restore function, alleviate pain, and prevent disability by planning and administering medically prescribed physical therapy. Plans and implements services and assists with the overall development of departmental programs and objectives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides quality care to meet the patient’s goals and needs by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining physical therapy plan of care in consultation with physician by prescription.
• Administers physical therapy treatments and patient education. Encourages and assists the patients in meeting the plan of care goals.
• Orients, supervises and directs the treatment given by aides, technicians, assistants and students in accordance with professional by-laws and regulations.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of treatments and assistive devices and makes the necessary modifications and adjustments.
• Completes discharge planning, consulting with other healthcare team members as needed to ensure appropriate level of services for continued care.
• Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing and educating the patient/family/caregiver; and recommends and/or provides assistive equipment.
• Documents patient care in the EMR.

EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE:

• Massachusetts licensed Physical Therapist (PT).
• CPR certification.
• One-year in Inpatient setting.
