Job Goal:
To implement an effective educational program for the appointed grade level and subject area(s) using the designated course of study, appropriate materials and resources, and best instructional practices.
Qualifications:
- Holds or able to acquire a valid teaching certificate in Alabama with proper endorsement in teaching field.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board might find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and priorities.
- Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
- Demonstrates competent knowledge of the structure of the academic discipline related to assigned subject-matter content areas.
- Demonstrates competent knowledge of the Alabama Course Of Study locally developed curriculum guides related to the teaching assignment.
- Anchors content knowledge in learning experiences that are meaningful and engaging.
- Defines clear goals and objectives for unit daily lesson plans.
- Provides accommodations, modifications, and/or adaptations to the curriculum Uses students’ prior knowledge and experiences to introduce new subject-area content and present instructional experiences that are designed to be motivating and engaging for those students.
- Implements developmentally appropriate instructional strategies.
- Utilizes a variety of flexible student groupings to support differentiated instruction.
- Utilizes ongoing formative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional plans accordingly.
- Collaborates with other teachers to interpret and use student data for Instructional planning and program evaluation.
