Replacement Physical Education Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Hold a New Jersey instructional certificate in accordance with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 18A:27.1 et seq., and N.J.A.C. Title 6A Chapter 9 with a health and physical education endorsement and other appropriate endorsement(s) for the position held (N.J.A.C. 6A:9-2, (a)2ii).
• Hold and maintain CPR certification and first aid certification.
• Have excellent experience in teaching and working with students in the field of comprehensive health and physical education unless entering teaching from an alternative certification program.
• Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the concepts of health and physical education, safety, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning.
• Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
• Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assumes professional responsibility for providing learning experiences in comprehensive health and physical education and supervision of students in a supportive and positive climate that develops in each student the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to meet and exceed the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, using approved curricula, materials, and directives of the school.
• Achieving excellence requires that the Health and Physical Education Teacher work collaboratively with other members of the school staff and with parents.
