Description
The Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD) is a diverse, bilingual community who in partnership with families, provides an equitable and exemplary education in a nurturing, engaging, and challenging environment to ensure our students achieve personal excellence and become lifelong learners. As such, we are looking for dedicated individuals who can join us in the education of the children at MSD.
POSITION DUTIES:
- Maintain Elementary School, Middle School and High School athletic programs at the Frederick and Columbia Campuses.
- Assess emergency and crisis situations, make appropriate contacts and referrals, and provide interim emergency medical and other assistance until specialized assistance is available.
- Develop, implement, and monitor coaches' training/workshops.
- Hire, supervise, and evaluate the Assistant Athletic Directors, coaches and the Physical Education team leader (in partnership with the Frederick Campus Principal).
- Maintain strict confidentiality of students, as well as school personnel information.
- Collaborate with the Office of Student Affairs to work on the School’s master schedule.
- Work with the Director of Public Relations to coordinate and disseminate athletic news and events by writing and posting stories in the social media, including the production and edition of video clips.
- Support the design of social media graphics for game day announcements and to recognize accomplishments of student-athletes, coaches, and staff members.
- Organize media/photo days for each sport; work with a photographer.
- Work with the athletic department staff to organize and keep inventories of sports/physical education equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification of Athletic Administration (CAA).
- Ability to obtain crowd manager certification.
- Ability to learn emergency medical procedures.
- Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification.
- Master’s Degree in athletic administration or equivalent preferred and 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
