Description
Victoria Club is seeking a passionate and dedicated Swimming Coach to lead our Vikings Swim team for the May through August swim season. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in swimming and experience in coaching individuals of various skill levels. As a Swimming Coach, you will be responsible for developing swimmers' skills, promoting water safety, and fostering a positive and encouraging environment for all participants.
Duties:
- Attends two Sunkist League meeting (usually February and April).
- Schedule and conduct team orientation / registration meeting.
- Schedule team swimsuit fitting meeting(s).
- Schedule team pictures – early June.
- Attend Finals seeding meeting, all Finals scratch meetings, and Chairman’s meeting at the end of Finals.
- Orders Inventory and replace necessary swim team equipment and supplies
- Select team suit; contact supplier for fitting package; fit all team members and place team suit order.
- Check all cap supply and re-order as necessary.
- Write the March Victoria Views article regarding swim team registration meeting – turn in by February deadline – contact office administration for this date.
- Write registration letter and give to club office, along with registration form, to be included in March billing.
- Send registration letter and form to last year’s swim team roster.
- Give team mailing addresses to club office; compile team roster, make copies of roster for all team members.
- Write Vikings Swim Team Newsletters as necessary (3-5).
- After Finals, write Victoria Views article to update club members on swim team’s performance (include team picture).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of pool equipment and maintenance.
- Knowledge and application of lifesaving methods and procedures, including first aid and standard resuscitation measures.
- Knowledge of House Rules and Regulations governing conduct of the membership at the pool.
- Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies.
- Ability to perform rescue actions, administer first aid and CPR.
- Strong knowledge of swimming techniques and competitive strategies.
- Experience in coaching or teaching swimming at various skill levels.
- Background in health club environments or physical education is preferred.
