Senior Associate Athletic Director for Competitive Excellence

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Competitive Excellence will collaborate with athletic department staff, student athletes, coaches, and other members of the Rice community to identify opportunities to improve Rice’s profile in the areas of athletic and academic performance and student athlete wellbeing.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• 8 years of related experience.
• Experience supervising employees.

Essential Functions:

• Provides management and administrative oversight for assigned program(s).
• Taking a holistic view of the department, develops strategic plans and recommendations to the Director of Athletics and the department’s Senior Staff for improving Rice Athletics.
• Forms strong alliances and relationships with the Rice and Houston community for the purpose of identifying opportunities and implementing strategies and cutting edge opportunities.
• Assesses staffing and operations budgets across the department to make recommendations on how best to invest resources.
• Collaborates with athletics staff at all levels to ensure projects are executed in a timely manner; follows up with benchmarking to track success of projects.
• Collaborates with the Director of Athletics and the athletics senior staff to set department policies and goals.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
