University High School, a small, independent high school in the northern part of San Francisco, seeks a Soccer Program Goalie Coach for our Winter 2018-19 season.
UHS is a college preparatory school usually ranked as one of the top 20 high schools in the nation. UHS kids typically attend colleges ranked in the top 50 in the country. Athletics are a large part of the school as well. Over 300 of our 400 students play on one or more teams in a typical year (80% this year). Our athletic program has been recognized by the SF Chronicle as one of the top five in the Bay Area and by Cal Hi-Sports as the best D5 program in the State 5 times in the past 14 years.
We seek coaches with the skills, time and energy to lead our program in a way that provides a positive experience for each and every player, that conducts itself in a way that insures exemplary behavior that reflects well on the school and the team, and that enjoys setting challenging competitive goals and the process of working hard to achieve those goals.
The season runs from October 29 to early February. The teams are active Monday-Friday and most team activities are at Paul Goode Field in the Presidio. Practices normally start between 3:00 and 4:00 pm and end around 5:00 or 5:30.
The program is strong and routinely competes for league titles. We play a challenging schedule against top local competition. We usually compete in at least one major early season tournament and also participate in multiple post-season competitions.
We seek coaches who believe in the value of high school sports, who love the game of soccer, who believe in the positive coaching model, and who relish the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of developing teenagers.
The Goalie Coach will work primarily with the Boys' and Girls' Varsity Teams. The ideal candidate will have strong goalie playing and/or coaching experience. Driving is preferred.
The teams are supported by a set of Team Parents who provide a myriad of support functions for the Head Coaches and the team. Compensation will depend upon the number of days the candidate is available.
