Description
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Sports Director at the Oakbrook Branch of the Summerville YMCA will lead, develop and launch activities that bring youth, adults and families closer together, encourage good health and foster connections through sports, fitness, camps, family events and enrichment activities.
Education/Experience:

- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college/university in Sports Management/Recreation/ Health Sciences or related field, preferred.
- Two-year degree with at least 2 years of related work experience.
- High School diploma with at least 4 years of related work experience.
Two years of experience supervising and developing staff and volunteer teams, preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed, in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Organize and implement sport tournaments.
- Oversees sports leagues, volunteers, referees, and coaches.
- Communicates and coordinates games, practices, cancelations, rescheduled events, and program details directly with Coaches.
- Will work with outside organizations and community members to enhance programs outside of the YMCA.
- Coordinates and assists maintenance staff in field preparation, safety, maintenance, and upkeep.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Management of program rosters, enrollment and reporting. Evaluate program effectiveness.
- Recruits hires and trains diverse volunteers to meet program goals and quality measures.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Develops and monitors the program budgets to meet fiscal objectives.
- Communicate and model operating procedures to ensure a high level of customer service and ensure a quality customer experience.
