Description
Under the direct supervision of the Athletic Division Head, the Swim Coach is responsible for coaching and providing direction to the participants so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in track and field. General and specific assignments are received and are usually under little direct supervision allowing latitude for use of independent judgment.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain regular, reliable, and prompt attendance, physically present to work.
- Instructs and demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement in swimming.
- Instruct class sizes of approximately 20 to 40 participants.
- Required to administer extreme caution and safety while conducting swim practices and meets.
- Develops appropriate training programs and practice schedules.
- Completes injury and incident report for any participant injured within 24 hours even if student athlete does not see physician.
- Will perform other related duties that is required and assigned.
- Travels with participants on the team bus both to and from swim meets.
- Adheres to all financial policies of the City in regard to the collection and disbursement of money, expenses, and receipts;
- Makes recommendations regarding the purchase of uniforms, equipment and supplies.
Requirements:
- Required to have high school diploma or equivalent GED and/or at least two years related experience.
- Prior successful experience working in a school setting or coaching student athletes strongly preferred. 18 years of age or older.
- Valid Texas Driver"s License with acceptable driving record.
