Description
The Jackson Public Schools (JPS) Swim Team is a growing active year-round swimming program for swimmers in the 7th – 12th grade from 10 middle schools and 7 high schools, with a current enrollment of 30+ swimmers.
Qualifications:
- The successful candidate must demonstrate proficiency in the areas of recruitment and retention of swimmers.
- Be skilled in teaching stroke technique, and be able to motivate and work effectively with athletes of all ages and abilities.
- Previous coaching experience is preferred.
- USA Swimming certifications. ASCA Level 2 minimum preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Develops the skills and talents of team members, promotes teamwork and sportsmanship, and encourages personal development.
- Responsible for all aspects of the swimmers’ training, including setting up swimmer groups, practice levels, workouts, practice durations, and goal setting.
- Responsible for attending team swim meets each year, making swimmer event selections, and entries via Meet Manager.
- Works with the JPS athletic department to host at least one home meet each year.
- Foster positive relationships, mentor, and communicate well with the existing coaching staff, swim team members, and parents.
- Responsible for attending all MHSAA required meetings and functions.
