Description
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement training plans to improve swimming techniques, endurance, and overall performance.
- Provide individualized coaching and guidance to swimmers of varying skill levels.
- Conduct poolside instruction, drills, and dryland training sessions.
- Teach swimming safety and water awareness to ensure the well-being of all swimmers.
- Maintain and promote a safe environment, following safety policies and procedures of BGCP.
- Foster a positive and supportive team environment, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect.
- Assist the Head Coach with day-to-day operations of the Swim Team, including scheduling, attendance, and communication.
- Keep accurate records of swimmers' progress and performance.
- Collaborate with other coaches, instructors, and support staff to create a cohesive and effective training program.
Skills and Requirements:
- Expertise in swimming techniques, including stroke development and correction.
- Strong background in sports coaching, preferably in swimming or related aquatic sports.
- Knowledge of sports behavior management and youth development best practices, and the ability to apply this knowledge in a team setting.
- Previous work or volunteer experience working with children required.
- Current Lifeguard certification required, including First Aid & CPR.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma required; some college preferred.
- Collegiate or high school swim team experience preferred.
- Ability to educate and motivate swimmers of varying ages and skill levels.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with athletes, parents/guardians, and other coaches.
