Description
JOB GOAL:
To implement an effective educational program for the designated grade level and subject area(s) using the designated course of study, appropriate materials and resources, and best instructional practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must meet applicable federal and state certification/qualification requirements for the position.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
- Ability to use technology to communicate, to plan and provide instruction, to facilitate student learning, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
- Ability to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as state and federal law and the Board may require.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and priorities.
- Demonstrates competent knowledge of the structure of the academic discipline related to assigned subject-matter content areas.
- Demonstrates competent knowledge of the Alabama courses of study and locally developed curriculum guides related to the teaching assignment.
- Anchors content knowledge in learning experiences that are meaningful and engaging.
- Defines clear goals and objectives for unit and daily lesson plans.
- Provides accommodations, modifications, and/or adaptations to the curriculum required.
- Uses students’ prior knowledge and experiences to introduce new subject-area content and present instructional experiences that are designed to be motivating and engaging for those students.
- Implements developmentally appropriate instructional strategies.
- Utilizes a variety of flexible student groupings to support differentiated instruction.
- Utilizes ongoing formative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional plans accordingly.
- Collaborates with other teachers to interpret and use student data for instructional planning and program evaluation.
