Description
The Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach reports to the Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach and assists in all aspects of the program; including but not limited to: recruiting, fundraising, fundamental player development and instruction, video analysis and scouting, preseason conditioning, and budget formulation. This is approximately a 9-month position payable over a 12-month period. Specific work schedule to be determined upon hire.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the head coach in coaching and training the Northwestern Women’s Lacrosse team; develop and conduct all in-season and out-of-season sessions throughout the year as deemed necessary and appropriate.
- Help with the psychological preparation of team in both pre-game and post-game, develop motivational approach to practice and games.
- Work to develop comprehensive knowledge of lacrosse in decision-making, handling authority and setting and meeting objectives.
- Oversee and assist in the training of the second assistant for all job responsibilities.
- Work with student athletes individually developing specific skills that will help them be successful on the field.
- Cooperate with Athletic Communications and Marketing departments in publicizing and marketing the Northwestern Lacrosse program; work with the N Club to promote the program. Spearhead fundraising efforts with the lacrosse booster club.
- Develop and maintain all statistical performance records for individual student-athletes and the team.
- Supervise and inventory all lacrosse equipment; distribute meal money to student-athletes and maintain ledger on budget expenditures for away trips and matches.
Competencies:
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience as a lacrosse coach.
- Familiarity with and understanding of the college lacrosse landscape.
- Willingness and ability to work, as well as travel, mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Valid drivers license.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
