Description
BYU's Athletic Trainers assist in providing athletic training services and health care for their BYU assigned teams (in this case, track and field); provide medical coverage of the BYU sports medicine facilities as assigned; and serve as a clinical instructor and supervisor for athletic training students in BYU's curriculum program in the Exercise Science Department.
Duties/Expectations:
- Evaluate injuries/illnesses for assigned athletic teams.
- Provide safe and effective treatments for injuries and illnesses within the certified athletic trainer's scope of practice and within the guidelines of sound medical practice.
- Make referrals for athletes to other health care professionals as needed.
- Communicate with coaches regarding the health status and limitations of athletes.
- Supervise student athletic trainers assigned to sport and serve as a clinical instructor to assigned students.
- Counsel with athletes and parents regarding their health status and options available for treatment.
- Maintain accurate records of injuries, illnesses, treatments, and referrals.
What Qualifies You to Apply?
- Master's Degree.
- 3 years of NATA certification through the BOC.
- Willingness to uphold and live by the university's Honor Code.
