Two (2) or more years of related work experience

The Director of Athletic Communications oversees all aspects of athletic media relations, including production of UVA Wise Athletics publications, statistics, community public relations, broadcasting, graphic/website design, content creation, event management, preparing news releases, marketing engagement, assisting with the management of interns and other student employees; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan and manage gameday operations for home contests (statistics, broadcasting, media relations, opponent relations).
• W rite content for the UVA Wise official athletics website, uvawisecavs.com.
• Compile and archive statistics.
• Arrange all interviews with student-athletes and coaches.
• Manage all broadcaststhrough the Cavalier Sports Network.
• Write press releases and feature stories.
• Maintain historical records.
• Strategically direct the athletics department’s media relations, communications, and promotions..
• Develop, create and distribute creative content.
• Oversee all social media communication strategies through creation and implementation across all platforms.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 1 year of experience working in Athletic Communications/Sports Information.
