University Preparatory Academy
Description
Under minimal supervision, in cooperation with the Head Coach leads the University Prep Baseball Program. Season begins on March 3rd and concludes in late May. Practices are held Monday-Friday with occasional Saturday commitments.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with program development and planning.
- Teaches appropriate fundamentals, techniques, strategies and skills.
- Helps with recruitment of coaching staff and the development and management of practice/game protocols and procedures.
- Ability to promote a positive team culture that emphasis sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect.
- Knowledge of and ability to enforce all safety procedures and protocols.
- Is responsible for health and safety of the athletes.
- Articulates a well-defined and understandable coaching philosophy to players and families.
- Applies developmentally appropriate and age appropriate methods to coaching student-athletes.
- Prepares detailed practice and game plans.
- Emphasizes sportsmanship and leadership among athletes.
- Clearly communicates to players, parents, administrators and staff.
- Positively motivates athletes and promotes teamwork.
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree in physical education or related field from a four-year college or university preferred.
- Demonstrated competence and experience in coaching Baseball required.
- Recent successful coaching experience in an Upper School environment preferred.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain valid First Aid/CPR card.
