Description
The Varsity Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the boys varsity basketball program. The coach will create a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, skill development, and academic achievement while fostering a competitive athletic environment aligned with the educational values of the school and district.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise assistant and sub-varsity coaches to ensure program consistency and alignment.
- Promote the health, safety, and well-being of all student-athletes during practices, games, and team activities.
- Foster teamwork, discipline, and character development in players both on and off the court.
- Maintain effective communication with student-athletes, parents, school personnel, and the athletic department.
- Oversee equipment inventory and responsible use of school facilities.
- Comply with all Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) rules, school district policies, and league regulations
- Represent the school positively at athletic events, meetings, and functions.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, conditioning, strategy, and game management.
- Ability to mentor athletes and support their academic and personal growth.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- CPR, First Aid, and Concussion Certification (or willingness to complete prior to start).
- Completion of NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course and MIAA Coaches Education requirements (if applicable).
