Description
Responsibilities:
- Develop and institute a program of sequential development for all teams and individuals across both our middle and upper school divisions. Coaches should be using the same terminology and teaching the same techniques at all levels for a holistic football approach in grades 5 through 12.
- Partner with Athletic Director on overall football program needs, budgets and vision forward. Provide regular updates on staff, athletes, scores, etc. to athletics and communications.
- Have a clear passion for developing student athletes in their physical and spiritual development.
- Demonstrate a positive report with numerous individuals and community groups including but not limited to team personnel, the student body, faculty, administration, maintenance, officials, media representatives, fellow coaches, alumni and parents of players.
- Work collaboratively with coaches of other sports encouraging student participation across multiple sports. St. Paul’s does not encourage specialization.
- Partner with the Admissions Office to attract and retain student athletes.
- Assist the School’s college counselors as well as players and families navigate the college guidance and recruiting process.
- Commitment to professional growth. Regular attendance at rules clinics and training opportunities in specific fields is imperative. Keeping abreast of current literature in professional journals, magazines as well as other media forms is also expected.
- Use sound and acceptable teaching practices and run well-organized practices using sound teaching progressions.
Qualifications:
- This position requires a minimum of five years coaching experience with coaching at a varsity level and/or in an independent school requirement preferred.
- Depending on experience and interest, this role does have the potential to serve as a teacher and coach, teaching in one of our core disciplines in the middle or upper schools and coaching the varsity football team.
