Description
The Assistant Coach for Varsity Girls Flag Football will work directly under the direction of the Varsity Head Coach to assist with the coaching, training, and development of the varsity girls flag football team. The assistant coach will play a vital role in creating a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes while maintaining a commitment to the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coaching & Instruction: Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of team practices and games under the direction of the Varsity Head Coach. Implement drills, training sessions, and skill development to improve the athletic performance of team members.
- Player Development: Work closely with student-athletes to develop their individual skills, technique, and understanding of flag football. Provide guidance and mentorship to players to help foster teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Compliance & Regulations: Maintain a thorough understanding of PIAA rules and regulations to ensure all practices and games are conducted according to governing body standards. Ensure that all team activities comply with league and school guidelines.
- Administrative Support: Assist the head coach in tracking inventory, including equipment and uniforms. Support the tracking of player attendance, grades, and eligibility as required by the school and athletic department.
- Game Day Responsibilities: Assist in the coordination and management of game-day activities, including warm-ups, strategy discussions, and sideline support during competitions.
- Other Duties: Assist with team meetings, parent communication, and fundraising efforts. Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Varsity Head Coach.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of flag football, including PIAA rules and regulations.
- Ability to coach and communicate effectively with high school athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach, assistant coaches, and other staff members.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability to maintain a positive, safe, and competitive environment for athletes.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and other scheduled practice/game times.
- Ability to uphold the school’s athletic department values, including commitment to academic and athletic excellence, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
