Description
The Coach is responsible to organize and conduct the practice sessions, prepare the team to participate in competitive events, care for all entrusted materials and supplies, lead the participants by example, follow the established guidelines of the district, and generally implement the other responsibilities of the position in the best interest of the students and school district.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide appropriate supervision at all times for all individuals in the program and provide an updated list of all individuals participating in the program to the Athletic Director.
- Provide a schedule of practices, meetings, and similar events, considered an integral part of the activity and indicate what specific objectives you intend to accomplish.
- Meet with the Athletic Director to review the program, including activities, meeting times, and places at the onset of the program. Clarify any problems or questions that arise.
- Provide a pre- and post-inventory of all materials, equipment, and supplies connected with the activity to the Athletic Director.
- Request, through official district procedures, facilities necessary to conduct the activity under your direction, i.e., rooms, fields, buses.
- Request, through official district procedures, any materials or equipment required in the activity. Receive prior approval before purchases are made or material/equipment ordered.
- Promote scholarship among participants and enforce any rules of eligibility that exist.
- Recognize the interrelationship between the educational program and extracurricular activities, being careful not to promote the activity to the detriment of the educational program or the students.
- Utilize acceptable techniques in teaching students participating in the activity and promote good sportsmanship/citizenship.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Some college playing or coaching experience preferred.
- Varsity coaching experience preferred.
- Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with the booster club.
- Must possess good written and oral communication skills and possess the ability to interact effectively with a broad spectrum of individuals and organizations.
- High energy level
- Must possess good judgment and effective decision making skills.
- Strength training experience and education
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications the Summit Academy may find appropriate and acceptable.
