Volleyball Coach

Asphalt Green is looking to hire an experienced volleyball player or coach with an interest in teaching the sport to middle school aged children with an ability to assist with the logistics. The program is starting this month (January) through mid-June, following the NYCDOE calendar. Hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30 and 9:00pm. This is a unique opportunity to launch a developmental program for adolescents in a beautiful new gym in the middle of Harlem. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Hire, train and supervise a team of 2-3 volleyball instructors.
• Maintain regular communication and check-ins with volleyball instructors.
• Run coaching clinics for instructors before program launch providing effective interactive drills to keep kids engaged, having fun, and learning age-appropriate skills.
• Ensure that staff follow Asphalt Green protocols e.g., tracking attendance and set ups/breakdown of equipment.
• Develop volleyball curriculum/lesson plans as needed.
• Ensure lesson plans are being utilized and followed each week.
• Establish a connection within the staff and the community.
• Building relationships with the kids, parents, coaches, and staff.

Qualifications:

• Must be available on the scheduled nights - every Tuesday and Thursday.
• Experience as a player and or coach! Coaching preferred.
• Managing practices and facilitating group activities with children.
