Volunteer Soccer Coach

Examples of Duties:

• Create a positive and safe learning environment where the youth learn sport specific skills with proper technique through your instruction.
• Serve as a mentor and role model to the youth.
• Facilitate challenging but fun practices that encourage teamwork and sportsmanship.
• Cheer on the team and give instruction on game day.
• Communicate program information professionally and promptly to parents and players throughout the season.
• Communicate with the Recreation Programmer and/or Program Coordinator.
• Attend a pre-season coaches meeting.
• Attend a non-sport specific coaches training.
• Hold a pre-season parent’s meeting.

Qualifications:

• Successfully complete the volunteer coach application and pass a background check.
• Become certified with the American Sports Education Program (ASEP).
• Knowledge of the game, ability to demonstrate proper technique.
• Effectively lead a group of youth.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with other coaches, City of Appleton Employees, spectators, and the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
• Exude enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
