Youth Flag Football Coach

Examples of Duties:

• Create a positive and safe learning environment where the children learn sportsmanship, fundamental football skills, team work, and responsibility.
• Display sportsmanship, positive attitude, and promotion of a fun atmosphere.
• Serve as a mentor and role model to all youth with whom you are coaching.
• Preside over team activities including all scheduled team practices and games throughout the season.
• Communicate program information to parents and players throughout the season.
• Communicate efficiently and promptly with the Recreation Programmer and/or Program Coordinator.
• Attend pre-season coaches meeting.
• Hold pre-season parents meeting.
• Be responsible for team equipment.
• Ensure equal playing time for all your players regardless of the score.

Typical Qualifications:

• Successfully complete the application procedure and pass a background check.
• Obtain an American Sports Education Program (ASEP) Coaches Certification.
• Knowledge of the principles and skills of the game of football.
• Ability to effectively supervise and maintain control of participants and spectators.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other coaches, City of Appleton Employees, and the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Exude enthusiasm and positive spirit with a commitment to equal participation.
• Exhibit patience, maturity, and dependability.
• Good organizational skills.
