Description
Examples of Duties:
- Create a positive and safe learning environment where the children learn sportsmanship, fundamental football skills, team work, and responsibility.
- Display sportsmanship, positive attitude, and promotion of a fun atmosphere.
- Serve as a mentor and role model to all youth with whom you are coaching.
- Preside over team activities including all scheduled team practices and games throughout the season.
- Communicate program information to parents and players throughout the season.
- Communicate efficiently and promptly with the Recreation Programmer and/or Program Coordinator.
- Attend pre-season coaches meeting.
- Hold pre-season parents meeting.
- Be responsible for team equipment.
- Ensure equal playing time for all your players regardless of the score.
Typical Qualifications:
- Successfully complete the application procedure and pass a background check.
- Obtain an American Sports Education Program (ASEP) Coaches Certification.
- Knowledge of the principles and skills of the game of football.
- Ability to effectively supervise and maintain control of participants and spectators.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other coaches, City of Appleton Employees, and the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Exude enthusiasm and positive spirit with a commitment to equal participation.
- Exhibit patience, maturity, and dependability.
- Good organizational skills.
