Description
The Youth Sports Instructor will assist the Youth Sports Coordinator in all on-site and off-site camps, clinics, and youth engagement activities. This role assists with the development, execution, and evaluation of the youth sports programs. Teaching skills, fostering a love for the game, and promoting good sportsmanship are key to success. This role works both game days and non-game days and requires a flexible schedule that will require some evenings, weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development, execution, and evaluation of youth sport participation programming focused on growing the game of baseball or hockey locally and supporting League-generated game growth initiatives.
- Instructing participants through various program components, including introductions, warm-ups, skill development, and personal growth.
- Support community-based and in-venue events including grassroots youth sports programming, equipment collections and distributions, athlete or front office appearances, and special experiences.
- Responsible for carrying out activation on select gamedays for both Mud Hens and Walleye.
- Maintain equipment to ensure all sports equipment is safe, functional, and properly stored.
- Maintain excellent communication with Youth Sports team and Program Supervisor, participants/parents, and site partners.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment where children of all backgrounds and abilities feel welcome and valued.
- Utilize positive behavior management techniques to promote cooperation, respect, and sportsmanship among young participants.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Understanding of baseball and/or hockey principles is preferred.
- Prior coaching, playing, or officiating is preferred.
