Job Overview
The Assistant Athletic Director - Operations and External Affairs reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for all external units of the athletic department including aspects of media and athletics communications, marketing and promotions and corporate sponsorship related to OLLU's intercollegiate programs. The assistant athletic director should model the NAIA Champions of Character & OLLU's core values and follow all rules and regulations pertaining to the NAIA and OLLU.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Know and comply with the rules and regulations of the Red River Athletic Conference, the NAIA, and OLLU Policies, Procedures and Practices.
- Function as the director of athletics communications for the OLLU department of athletics.
- Track official statistics and prepare media releases for each OLLU sport and disseminate via internal and external media outlets, opposing teams and the conference offices.
- Document and publicize the accomplishments of OLLU teams and athletes.
- Lead brand management efforts, including alignment with institutional identity and storytelling.
- Oversee the athletics website ollusaintsathletics.com and maintain up to date, current information.
- Serve as the liaison between the OLLU athletic department and the various media outlets and platforms.
- Oversee production of game-day programs and other game-day materials
- Manage the coverage and logistics of all home sporting events including press row workers, public address announcer, music, scoreboard and livestreaming.
- Take or assign other OLLU staff to take photographs when necessary and ensure that third-party agreements/contracts exist prior to utilizing external sources for assistance.
- Experience in a collegiate athletic setting.
- Display knowledge of Presto Sports statistical software, Presto Sports websites, and Sidearm Sports websites.
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of all OLLU sports.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Familiarity and/or experience with the following: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, AfterEffects).
- Interpersonal skills to support professional relationships with coaches, student-athletes, media, and the public.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments on campus.
