Job Overview
The Assistant Coach, Cross Country is responsible for assisting in the direction of all phases of a nationally competitive athletic program in accordance with Barry University, the Sunshine State Conference, and NCAA DII regulations. Responsible for supporting the Head Coach by providing individual instruction/ teaching of said sport. Essential Functions:
  • Assists the head coach with instructing/ teaching student-athletes in the rules, regulations, and techniques of the sport.
  • Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach.
  • Assists the head coach with supervising student-athletes during practices and competition.
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
  • Teaches assigned fundamentals and skills during practice and games.
  • Assesses player’s skills and keeps the head coach informed of the athletic performance of students.
  • Models professional behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
Requirements:
  • A valid driver's license required.
  • Bachelor's degree in any field required.
  • Master's degree in any field preferred.
  • 1 - 3 years of relevant work experience required.
  • General knowledge to identify, scrutinize, improve, and streamline work.General knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Technically proficient with office equipment.
  • Adept at written and oral communication.
