Job Overview
Walsh University is a member of NCAA Division II that competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The Assistant Coach – Casual is responsible for assisting the coaching staff in coaching/mentoring student-athletes technically and tactically on the field/court/etc., as well as, guiding them through academic achievement and personal development. The assistant coach (casual) is also responsible for helping with recruiting and retaining student-athletes and the day-to-day practice regimen.
Essential Duties:
- Assists the head coach to communicate goals, expectations, and accountability to help maintain high standard of performance, ethics, and sportsmanship on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
- Create a relationship built on the sincere interest in each student-athletes’ academic, athletic, and personal pursuits.
- Collaborate with other college staff when/if necessary.
- Assists with the process to plan, organize and facilitate individual and team training and competition.
- Study and implement strategy and skills needed to prepare for competition.
- Learn, know, and abide by NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
- Lead in a way that positively reflects the mission and vision of the institution.
- Adhere to rules, guidelines and principles set forth by the applicable division/conference.
- Assists the head coach and staff to plan, communicate, create, and model the same expectations as the head coach.
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred/encouraged.
- At least 1-3 year’s coaching experience at the collegiate level or other significant experience relative to coaching and/or the administration of an intercollegiate athletics program.
