Job Overview
Responsibilities:
  • Assists with all operations of an effective cross country and track and field program. Primary focus will be the oversight of the men’s and women’s cross country program and the distance events of the men’s and women’s track and field program.
  • Supervises and supports the cross country and distance event disciplines by providing leadership and oversight for the student-athletes.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Track and Field/Cross Country, coordinates the recruitment efforts for women’s and men’s cross-country athletes. This includes regular communication to prospective student athletes, scheduling and organizing on-campus visits, traveling to PSA competitions, and communicating with Office of Admission on a regular basis. The Associate Coach will contribute significantly to the enrollment effort of both the institution and the athletic department.
  • Oversees training schedules for all student-athletes who are part of the distance training group within allowable NCAA guidelines.
  • Provides feedback, both written and communicated in-person, to athletes throughout the season.
  • Directs in-season strength and conditioning activities for the athletes under supervision.
  • Assists Director in all facets of home meet management, including preparation, communication with timing company and visiting teams, and meet day management.
  • Conducts pre-meet, in-competition, and post-meet coaching during intercollegiate contests.
  • Counsels student-athletes and set up short- and long-range goals. When necessary, provides student athletes with academic support, including weekly check-ins and progress report meetings.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience as an assistant coach in cross country and track and field, preferably in a small private college environment.
  • Familiarity with Division III athletics.
  • Recruiting experience at the collegiate level.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Well-developed communication skills and ability to discuss college programs and policies with a variety of prospective student audiences.
