Job Overview
The Head Women's Basketball Coach is responsible for the management of the Savannah State University women's basketball program management to include but not limited to coaching, recruiting, compliance, fiscal management, staffing, public relations and camps/clinics.
Responsibilities:
- Administer the women's basketball program in accordance with Savannah State University, University System of Georgia (USG), National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), and Southern Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (SIAC) requirements.
- Demonstrate sportsmanship and the highest level of personal integrity.
- Prepare and organize daily practice sessions and game preparation for competition.
- Organize and administer the recruiting of prospective student-athletes in accordance with the NCAA, Conference, and Savannah State University policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with academic services to promote and monitor the academic development, progress and graduation of student-athletes.
- Recommend and prepare the scheduling of all contests under the guidelines provided by budget, program scope, and all applicable departmental guidelines, rules and regulations.
- Report all known or suspected violations of NCAA or conference regulations to the Compliance Office and/or the Athletic Director.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Five (5) years of progressive and successful coaching experience at the high school/collegiate level OR Two (2) years of collegiate coaching experience.
- One (1) year of training, internship, or leadership experience.
- Master's degree from an accredited institution, preferred.
