Job Overview
Perquimans County High School is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as the Head Swim Coach for our boys and/or girls' swim team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to student-athlete development, sportsmanship, and the educational mission of high school athletics as outlined by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA).

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular practices that emphasize skill development, teamwork, conditioning, and safety.
  • Provide leadership that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, and ethical conduct.
  • Ensure compliance with all NCHSAA, school district, and school policies and eligibility rules.
  • Supervise athletes at practices, meets, and team-related events.
  • Coordinate with the athletic director, assistant coaches, and parents as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records for attendance, eligibility, and meet results.
  • Promote and maintain a positive team culture.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of NCHSAA rules, policies, and expectations.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before the start of the season).
  • NFHS "Fundamentals of Coaching" certification (must be completed before first practice).
  • Concussion Management and Heat Illness Prevention training (as required by NCHSAA).
  • Background check and approval by the school/district are required.
