Job Overview
One City Schools is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary and Middle School Physical Education Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing Wisconsin standards-based curriculum, providing quality physical education instruction, and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among students in various grade levels. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive physical education curriculum aligned with Wisconsin State Standards, ensuring a well-rounded education in physical fitness, motor skills, and sportsmanship.
  • Create and implement engaging health education lesson plans that meet state and national standards.
  • Teach students about a variety of health topics, including but not limited to nutrition, physical activity, mental health, sexual health, and substance abuse prevention.
  • Continuously update and adapt curriculum materials to reflect the latest trends and research in physical education.
  • Create engaging and developmentally appropriate lesson plans that cater to various grade levels, taking into account the unique needs and abilities of each age group.
  • Utilize effective teaching strategies and instructional methods to enhance students' physical skills, knowledge, and understanding of fitness and wellness.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students.
  • Implement discipline and behavior management strategies to maintain a safe and productive learning environment.
ROLE SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Wisconsin teaching certification in Physical Education (PK-12) or eligibility for certification.
  • Strong knowledge of Wisconsin State Standards for Physical Education.
  • Previous experience working as a Physical Education teacher, preferably in an elementary and middle school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
  • Enthusiasm for promoting physical fitness and healthy lifestyles among students.
