QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in physical therapy or related program.
- Valid Texas license as a physical therapist granted by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
- Knowledge of normal developmental sequence ages 0 - 21.
- Skill in use of tests and measurements for assessing physical function.
- Ability to administer manual exercises and physical therapy treatments.
- Ability to interpret medical information and serve as liaison between medical and school communities.
- Familiarity with assistive technology.
- Work collaboratively with student's Individual Education Plan team and participate in screening, evaluation, program planning and intervention.
- Evaluate students with disabilities and progress to determine and make recommendations regarding the need for physical therapy in the educational setting.
- Provide physical therapy intervention to support the student's Individual Education Plan.
- Establish goals and objectives for students receiving physical therapy.
- Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level, interests, and needs of the student.
- Plan and provide teaching, training, and consultative services of family and educational personnel consistent with physical goals contained in students' Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Conduct one-on-one consultation with teachers, aides, parents, and others to apprise them of individual student needs and requirements related to student's physical therapy.
