An athletic coach /activities advisor coaches, supervises, manages, coordinates, and plans all practices pre-season, in-season, and post-season. The athletic coach/ activities advisor is also responsible for coaching/advising, supervising, and managing all athletic and activity competitions. The total operation of the extracurricular programs, athletics, activities, transportation, and related athletic facility operations for grades 6-12. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Activities Director.

Essential Functions:

1. Teaches athletes the fundamental skills, theory, and strategy of the sport/activity.
2. Teaches the athletes the value of good conduct, sportsmanship, and good citizenship.
3. Provides supervision of athletes at all times and applies discipline when needed.
4. Teaches and emphasizes safe procedures to the athletes.
5. Leads or assists other coaches and advisors with out-of-season training as needed depending on the level of coaching/advising assignment.
6. Attends and/or conducts awards programs.
7. Assists in the responsibility of the care of equipment and facilities being used.
8. Assists in the issuance, return, and maintenance of equipment.
9. Assists in ensuring that all equipment is cleaned, repaired, and stored properly at the ends of the season.
10. Makes recommendations to the Activities Director regarding needed equipment and repairs to facilities.
11. Other duties as assigned and appropriate.

Education and Experience:

1. High school diploma or equivalent is required.
2. Current district staff member preferred but not required.
3. Teaching and coaching license preferred but not required.
4. Equivalent combination of education and experience.
