The job of Assistant Coach is done for the purpose/s of assisting the designing and implementing of the athletic program for the assigned sport in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Provide supervision of students during all aspects of the program.
2. Serving as a positive role model to the student athletes and represents St. Vincent – St. Mary High School in a well-respected manner.
3. Upgrading his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations consultation, etc.
4. Has thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by School Administration and is responsible for its implementation.
5. Understands the proper administrative chain of command and refers all student/parent requests or grievances through the proper channels.
6. Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school sports program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Previous coaching experience in assigned sport is desired.
2. Has knowledge and background in the assigned sport.
3. The assistant coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions. Physical Demands
4. Work in standard office, school building, and athletic training environments.
5. Visually monitor athletes.
6. Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
7. Regular use of fingers and hands.
8. Physically fit and able to demonstrate appropriate techniques to athletes.
9. Swift movement, lifting, carrying, and moving work-related supplies and equipment.
10. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
