Job Overview
The Elementary PE Teacher is responsible for delivering physical education instruction that supports the mission and values of Catholic education. The teacher will implement a developmentally appropriate, skills-based physical education curriculum that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and overall wellness for students in PreK–4th grade.
Essential Duties:
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Acts as a witness to the Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Support and adhere to the Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school.
- Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
- Plan and deliver a developmentally appropriate, skills-based PE curriculum that encourages physical competence, active living, and positive social interactions.
- Provide engaging and age-appropriate physical activities aligned to state and diocesan standards.
- Ensure supervision and safety of students at all times during physical activities, both indoors and outdoors.
- Maintain gymnasium and all PE equipment in good, safe, and organized condition.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church and a commitment to Catholic education.
- Understanding of child development, physical education standards, and differentiated instruction.
- Familiarity with physical literacy principles and developmentally appropriate movement skills.
- Ability to manage student behavior effectively in individual and group settings.
- Proficiency in using instructional technology and educational tools.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for physical activity.
- Demonstrated professionalism in demeanor, conduct, and work habits.
