This position leads physical education classes for lower and middle school students and has the responsibility for developing students understanding of the relationship between exercise and a healthy body, good habits around physical fitness, and knowledge and motor skills through individual, dual, and team physical activities and sports. This position is a collaborative member of a dedicated physical education and athletics department.

Responsibilities:

1. Teach physical education to students in K-8 grade.
2. Provide coaching in multiple sports in up to three sport seasons, specifically Lacrosse and Field Hockey, possibly Soccer.
3. Model and guide students in Christ-like values and character development.
4. Employ current pedagogies and deliver innovative curriculum.
5. Embrace lifelong learning and growth mindset for adults and students alike.
6. Participate collaboratively in departmental and all-school teams.
7. Display cultural competence in teaching and teamwork.
8. Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
9. Demonstrate enthusiasm, energy, initiative, and self-reflection.
10. Motivate and engage students.

Qualifications:

1. Successful completion of background checks and verification.
2. A vibrant Christian faith and a desire to work in a Christian environment.
3. A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 24 hours in physical education.
4. Teaching certification for physical education.
5. At least two years’ full-time teaching and/or coaching experience preferred.
