Job Overview
This position leads physical education classes for lower and middle school students and has the responsibility for developing students understanding of the relationship between exercise and a healthy body, good habits around physical fitness, and knowledge and motor skills through individual, dual, and team physical activities and sports. This position is a collaborative member of a dedicated physical education and athletics department.
Responsibilities:
- Teach physical education to students in K-8 grade.
- Provide coaching in multiple sports in up to three sport seasons, specifically Lacrosse and Field Hockey, possibly Soccer.
- Model and guide students in Christ-like values and character development.
- Employ current pedagogies and deliver innovative curriculum.
- Embrace lifelong learning and growth mindset for adults and students alike.
- Participate collaboratively in departmental and all-school teams.
- Display cultural competence in teaching and teamwork.
- Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, energy, initiative, and self-reflection.
- Motivate and engage students.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of background checks and verification.
- A vibrant Christian faith and a desire to work in a Christian environment.
- A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 24 hours in physical education.
- Teaching certification for physical education.
- At least two years’ full-time teaching and/or coaching experience preferred.
