Job Overview
The Elementary Physical Education Teacher will specifically work with students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade (K-3). This role requires tailoring physical education instruction to the developmental and motor skill levels appropriate for early elementary students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement physical education lessons that are age-appropriate for K-3 students, focusing on fundamental motor skills, basic movement patterns, and introductory sportsmanship concepts.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages physical activity, cooperation, and social-emotional growth among young learners.
- Use a variety of instructional methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities typical of early elementary students.
- Monitor and assess student progress using developmentally appropriate criteria and provide feedback to support growth in physical skills and healthy habits.
- Ensure safety during all physical activities and adapt lessons to meet the needs of all students, including those with special needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and parents to support the overall development of K-3 students.
Qualifications:
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain a North Carolina teaching license in Physical Education (K-12), with a focus on early elementary education preferred.
- Experience or demonstrated ability to work effectively with young children in grades K-3.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills tailored to young learners.
