Job Overview

The part-time head women’s softball coach is expected to recruit student-athletes that can be successful academically, socially, and athletically at Northland. Lead and develop a competitive softball program such as recruiting, coaching, and managing the team's overall performance and academic success. The coach would also be responsible for administrative tasks like scheduling opponents, budgeting, and fundraising, as well as working on the softball field to prepare for games and practices. Significant travel for recruiting, as well as with the team for games. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Recruit, train, and coach members of the women’s softball program.
  2. Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide for individual andteam development.
  3. Assist in scheduling games and facilities for practice.
  4. Organize and schedule road trips.
  5. Ensure the proper care and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
  6. Coordinate the development and promotion of the women’s softball program by communicating with the news media and various clubs and organizations.
  7. Assign duties to assistant coaches as necessary.
  8. Establish and maintain standards of behavior and provide proper student-athlete supervision.
  9. Developing strategies for student academic success and retention.
  10. Assist in tracking student-athlete eligibility.

 Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. Experience coaching at the high school or college level.
  3. Valid unencumbered drivers license.
