Job Overview
The Head Women’s Wrestling Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of Alma College’s intercollegiate women’s wrestling program. This includes coaching, recruiting, team operations, budget oversight, fundraising, academic support, and community engagement. The head coach plays a key role in developing student-athletes into leaders who excel both on and off the mat.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage program operations, including training plans, scheduling, travel, and equipment.
- Monitor student-athlete academic progress, retention, and eligibility in coordination with campus support services.
- Foster a team culture centered on sportsmanship, accountability, inclusivity, and personal growth.
- Supervise and mentor assistant coaches and student support staff.
- Ensure compliance with institutional, NCAA, NCWA, USA Wrestling, and MIAA rules and expectations.
- Represent the wrestling program at departmental meetings, campus events, and community functions.
- Lead and participate in fundraising initiatives and alumni engagement efforts in collaboration with athletics advancement.
- Promote Alma College’s mission and values.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 2 years of coaching experience, preferably in a collegiate or competitive club setting.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Knowledge of NCWA and USA Wrestling rules and procedures.
- Demonstrated commitment to academic success and student-athlete development.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Willingness to actively coach and participate in all aspects of the program.
- Availability for evening, weekend, and overnight travel.
- Valid driver’s license.
