Job Overview
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement effective swim training sessions for student-athletes of varying skill levels.
- Coordinate and supervise all team practices, meets, and travel in alignment with GHSA and school policies.
- Provide technical instruction in all swim strokes, turns, starts, and overall race strategy.
- Foster a positive team environment that promotes discipline, teamwork, personal growth, and sportsmanship.
- Monitor academic eligibility and provide mentorship to support student-athletes’ success in and out of the pool.
- Manage meet entries, athlete registration, and compliance with all GHSA requirements.
- Collaborate with the Athletics Department and YMCA or local facility to manage lane space, scheduling, and pool logistics.
- Communicate regularly with families, athletic trainers, administrators, and other stakeholders.
- Support recruitment and retention of swimmers, including engagement with students from Drew's middle school pipeline.
Qualifications:
- Prior coaching experience in competitive swimming (high school, club, or collegiate level).
- Knowledge of stroke technique, training principles, and race preparation.
- Current Lifeguard/CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and time-management skills.
- Familiarity with GHSA swim guidelines and meet management platforms (e.g., Meet Manager, TeamUnify) is a plus.
- Experience fostering inclusive and supportive athletic environments for student-athletes.
