Job Overview
Manhattan University, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking a qualified candidate for a 12-month, full time position of Assistant Director of Athletics for Athletic Facilities and Events for its 19 varsity sports. The candidate is directly responsible for the management and oversight of 5 athletic facilities: Draddy Gymnasium, Alumni Hall, Gaelic Park, Gaelic Park Athletic Center (GPAC), and Van Cortlandt Park (VCP).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Train and oversee Graduate Assistants.
- Hire, train and supervise event staff and personnel.
- Responsible for pregame setup, game-day presentation, breakdown and clean up.
- Contact all visiting teams, coaches and administrators before hosting a home game to coordinate parking and post-game needs such as locker rooms, showers and meals.
- Secure staffing for games a week prior to the event.
- Responsible for pregame, in-game setup, overall fan experience and breakdown of facility used – including the moving of bleachers in Draddy Gymnasium.
- Set up work standards, schedules, layouts, timing and rules for administering a game or event including staff positions and responsibilities.
- Knowledge of equipment and ability to on-the-spot troubleshoot a problem.
- Oversees the functioning of scoreboards and console, graphic scorers table and indoor scoreboard.
- The movement and setup of bleachers and stands prior to and after every game.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree in related areas preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of full-time related experience, preferably at the Division I level or related area.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards in the presentation and operation of all facilities.
- Tenacious, resourceful and adaptable professional with the able to maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships and create partnerships with campus constituents, working together to resolve issues.
- Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
