Job Overview
Reporting to the Head Baseball Coach, the Assistant Baseball Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach to ensure the program’s success as directly related to the skill development and performance of the student-athletes, as well as the recruitment, retention, and conduct of the student-athletes. All staff members are responsible for complying with the policies and procedures set forth by Hofstra University, the Coastal Athletic Association, the NCAA and the job requirements specific to the particular assignments inherent to baseball.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 1-3 years relevant work experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with the player development as it relates to proper technique, advanced skill instruction, and competition strategy along with team building.
- Assists with evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes.
- Evaluates the performance, conduct, and abilities of individuals and groups as assigned by the Head Coach.
- Assists, develops, and participates in program planning, contest preparation, scouting, film breakdown, practice sessions, and game day activities.
- Coordinates game and practice schedules.
- Monitors and assists in areas as assigned including all compliance forms (ex. CARA LOGS), travel itineraries, strength and conditioning, camps and clinics, recruitment, admissions, academic pre-reads, NLIs, academic enhancement, equipment, financial planning and budgeting, purchasing, and fundraising.
- Available to participate in public relations activities, community outreach programs, marketing and development initiatives as well as alumni engagement.
