Job Overview
The Assistant Women’s GOLF Coach will assist with all aspects of the Women’s GOLF program. This position reports to the Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach.
Essential Functions:
- In partnership with the Head Coach, develops a strong team culture to reflect Vanguard’s mission and values while readily demonstrating action toward meeting student development goals, Athletic Department objectives and team success.
- Use sport-specific knowledge, training technique and team-building leadership skills to implement a competitively excellent team.
- In partnership with the Head Coach, develops a leadership focus consistent with the university mission that promotes individual student-athletes’ spiritual growth, team involvement in service, worship, and involvement in any Athletic Department activities that supports overall spiritual growth.
- Assists in monitoring academic progress and builds a program that results in high retention and graduation rates by tracking classes, grades, class attendance and academic progress of athletes, etc.
- Accepts responsibility to provide complete and accurate expense reports. Reconcile P-card expenses in accordance with the timeline of reciliation by the Office of Accounting.
- Accepts responsibility to know and understand NCAA DII and Pacific West Conference rules and regulations. Promotes an atmosphere of compliance within the athletic department and assists or advises the staff and student-athletes to prevent compliance violations. The same would apply for any athletic organization to which the University holds membership. This responsibility entails reading and studying materials available and attending professional conferences and meetings to remain advised on current regulations, trends and conduct of student-athletes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Head Coach and/or Athletic Director, including but not limited to program reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two years’ experience in athletics department environment or the equivalent thereof preferred.
- CPR and First Aid Certified.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize diverse and specialized details and tasks.
- Ability to handle complaints and assist in conflict management.
- Absolute preservation of confidential records, financial data and agreed upon conversations.
- Ability to be flexible to changing conditions, needs, and job responsibilities.
- A strong interest in seeing intercollegiate athletes succeed.
- An understanding and sensitivity to FERPA laws as it pertains to student-athletes.
- A working knowledge of NCAA rules, bylaws and philosophies.
